ABOUT | STORY CHURCH LONDON

The Watson family moved from the US to plant a church in London with a hope to reach the nations. Adam and Laura have been married 10 years and have served in both church and para-church ministries across multiple nations. They have a 4 old named girl and 1 year old boy, born in London. London is now home to this growing family who are planting a new church here in the city of London.

They have been welcomed into the Commission family of Churches by Guy and Heather Miller and Westminster Chapel. Adam also serves as the trainer for Commission leading the TLM course and hosts the Union School of Theology Learning Community at Westminster Chapel as well.

We are served by Commission Global with Trustees and ministry oversight. We are thankful to a core leadership team of committed members of Story Church who play key roles in the formation of the church. Additionally, we are actively seeing our launch team grow. What kind of church do we want to be?

(Acts 1:8): We believe the Holy Spirit is not merely a doctrine to affirm, but the dynamic power that fills, leads, and sends us. In a city as diverse and global as London, we rely on the Spirit’s presence to bear fruit, proclaim boldly, and be witnesses to the resurrected Jesus—across boroughs and beyond borders. We seek to live in daily dependence on the Spirit through prayer, obedience, and mission.
(Acts 2:42): We are not just building gatherings—we are forming gospel-centered communities on mission. Like the early church, we devote ourselves to Scripture, prayer, fellowship, and the breaking of bread, embedded in neighborhoods across London. Missional communities are where discipleship happens in everyday life and where Londoners can see the love of Jesus embodied.
(2 Timothy 2:2): We are committed to raising up faithful followers of Jesus who will disciple others. Multiplication, not just addition, is our aim. In a post-Christian and post-religious culture, we pursue intentional, relational disciple-making—training leaders, equipping saints, and planting the gospel in every context God gives us.
(Revelation 12:11; Psalm 107:1–2): We overcome the world not only through the blood of Jesus but by the power of our testimony. Every believer has a story shaped by redemption, and we are called to tell it. In a city filled with competing narratives, we proclaim the greatest story ever told—the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus—and we invite others to see how His story transforms their own.
(Matthew 24:14): London is a global city, and our church is made up of people from many nations. But we are not gathered for ourselves—we are gathered to be scattered. We are passionate about seeing missionaries raised up from London to the ends of the earth. We long to be a sending church that reaches the unreached and joins the global church in proclaiming the gospel to all nations.

What We Believe

At Story Church London, we joyfully affirm the core doctrines of the historic, global Church. These truths shape our worship, mission, and hope as we live sent lives in London and to the nations. We hold fast to the gospel of Jesus Christ and the essential foundations of Christian faith revealed in Scripture.

Scripture: The Bible is God’s inspired, inerrant Word and our ultimate authority.
The Trinity: One God in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — equal in nature and worthy of worship.
Jesus Christ: Fully God and fully man, who lived sinlessly, died for our sins, rose bodily, and reigns forever.
Human Condition: All people are spiritually lost and in need of salvation through Christ alone.
Salvation: By God’s grace through faith in Jesus alone, not by works.
Christ’s Return: Jesus will come again physically to judge, restore creation, and establish His Kingdom.
The Church: The body and bride of Christ, made up of all believers united by the Spirit, called to love and unity.
Sanctification: The Holy Spirit’s work transforming believers to grow more like Jesus.
Eternity: Heaven for those who trust Christ, eternal separation for those who reject Him.

London Mission Week 2025 was an incredible moment of gospel proclamation with over 400 churches and ministries partnering together to share the gospel in all 32 boroughs of London. Thousands heard the good news on the streets, in homes, parks, cafés, and everywhere in between.

Teams came from across the nations — including a team from Texas and interns from the U.S. who served with us at Story Church. From bold conversations to tearful prayers, from worship in the city to testimonies in the squares — Jesus was lifted high.

We wrapped the week with a powerful citywide celebration at Westminster Chapel — and now the story continues.

There are some nights you plan for… and then there are nights that only God could write.

This past worship night was one of the most powerful yet. A timely word from @vinupaulofficial Zechariah 8:23 spoke of the nations gathering because they’ve heard that God is with us. And it felt like a glimpse of that future — right here in London.

People happened to be in town for just 48 hours… and somehow, they ended up in our gathering in the sovereignty of God. Ministry partners reconnected and recomissioned from London. Prayers were lifted in Hindi and Spanish, commissioning missionaries on their way to the nations, again. It was emotional. Holy. Only God.

We’re watching a sending church take shape — right here in Paddington. People are being drawn together with a shared heart for Jesus and His mission to the ends of the earth.

He is Risen—The True Story of Hope

This Easter, we remember the passion of Christ—the suffering Savior who carried our sin to the cross, and the Risen King who left the grave behind. In Him, death is defeated, and a better story has begun.

Earlier this week, we saw a cross etched into the pavement right here in London—a quiet symbol in a busy city, but a loud reminder that Jesus walks these streets, and His love reaches into every corner of our world.

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8

At Story Church, we believe Jesus is the true story of the world. His resurrection isn’t just history—it’s hope for the lost, healing for the hurting, and purpose for everyday people like us. We are a gospel family on everyday mission, living sent in London and to the nations.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for the cross. Thank You for London. We pray for the lost and the searching in this city—that they would see You, know You, and be forever changed. Use Story Church as a light in the streets of London and beyond, that many may rise to new life in You.

Empowered for Mission: Vision Sunday at Story Church London

God has placed us in London for a purpose—to be a church on mission, empowered by the Holy Spirit, making disciples, and sharing the gospel in everyday life. Here’s our vision:

1️⃣ Empowered by the Spirit for London (Acts 1:8) – We are not on mission alone. The Holy Spirit fills us with power to be Christ’s witnesses in this city and beyond.

In Stratford, London, a simple memorial marks a powerful history—the site where men and women were burned at the stake for their faith in Christ. They refused to deny the gospel, standing firm even in the face of death.

Pastor Mark Waterfield of @hopechurchnewham reminded us that their sacrifice wasn’t in vain. Their faith shaped history, and now, God calls us to stand boldly for the gospel in our time.

“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.” — Revelation 12:11

As Tertullian once said, “The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.” Their witness still speaks today.

Let’s pray for London—that we would be a city where the gospel is proclaimed with courage, where the Church stands strong, and where many come to know Jesus.

Movements begin with fire, vision, and faith—but without renewal, they risk becoming history instead of legacy. Steve Addison reminds us: Movements rise when ordinary people are empowered to share an extraordinary message. They fall when the mission shifts to maintenance. “Movements are led by Pioneering Leaders who can go into unreached fields, connect, share the gospel, make disciples, form new churches, and multiply leaders. But how do you grow Pioneering Leaders when your existing methods only produce pastor-teachers? Don’t begin with a denominational or church-wide restructuring. In the busyness of London—where millions of lives cross paths daily, yet so many hearts feel isolated—this announcement still rings true.

Over 2,000 years ago, in the quiet hills of Bethlehem, God broke into history with the ultimate good news: the Savior, Jesus Christ, was born. This wasn’t for a select few, not for the powerful or the elite, but for all people. That includes us, London.

Just as the angels declared “peace on earth,” Jesus offers us peace here and now, in 2024. Whether you’re facing the weight of financial uncertainty, the ache of loneliness, or the search for purpose amidst the city’s noise, the message of the gospel speaks directly to you:

God sees you. God loves you. And God sent His Son to rescue you.

As Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones once said:
“The Son of God became man that men might become sons of God.”

In this unique season between Christmas and a new year coming, let the story of the shepherds remind us that we don’t have to climb a ladder to reach God. He came down to us. Pray for the Spiritual Renewal of London
Pray for revival in the heart of London—that God’s Spirit would transform lives and draw people from all nations to Himself.
Pray for unity among churches in London as they work together to share the gospel story. “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?” (Psalm 85:6)
Pray for God’s Mission Through London
Lift up London as a city of global influence, asking God to use it as a hub for the gospel to reach the nations. Pray that believers in London would share their stories of redemption boldly. “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story.” (Psalm 107:1-2)
Pray for the Proclamation of the Gospel
Pray that the greatest story—Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection—would be proclaimed clearly and received with joy. “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?” (Romans 10:14)
Pray for the Nations in London
Pray that God would draw people from every corner of the globe living in London to know Him and be part of His redemptive story.
Pray for laborers to be raised up to share the gospel with every nation represented in our city.
“The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matthew 9:37-38)
Pray for Endurance in Gospel Ministry
Pray for pastors, leaders, and volunteers to find strength in God as they labor for His kingdom and share His story.
“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)

Every soul has a story, and Jesus is still writing your story. It’s a story of redemption, hope, and love found only in Jesus Christ.

Revelation 12:11 says, “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” Each of us carries a unique testimony—a story shaped by God’s grace, mercy, and the transforming power of Jesus. No matter how broken or painful your past might be, it can be rewritten by the Author of Life. Jesus gave His life on the cross so that our stories wouldn’t end in defeat but in victory.

Psalm 107:1-2 reminds us, “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story.” We are called to share the incredible news of what God has done for us. If you’ve experienced the love of Jesus and been set free, your story is part of something far greater—part of the greatest story ever told—the story of Jesus Christ, who came to seek and save the lost.

The Gospel is the best news the world has ever known. In Jesus, we find forgiveness, purpose, and eternal life. His story is one of perfect love, where He took our place on the cross and rose again, defeating sin and death. Through His sacrifice, we are redeemed, and our stories are transformed into testimonies of His goodness.

If you’ve been longing for redemption, for a fresh start, know this: God sees you, He loves you, and He’s ready to write a new chapter in your life. Jesus came to give us life abundantly (John 10:10), and your story can be forever changed by His love.

Come as you are, follow Jesus, and let Him make your story one of hope, freedom, and grace.

Over the next few posts we wanted to share how Story Church London got its name. There are several passages of scripture that inspired this name over the years and in our own story. David Platt words this well in this article: Christs Blood Covers Us - Radical.net

“And I heard a loud voice in heaven saying, ‘Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God, and they have conquered him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.’” Revelation 12:10–11

Revelation 12:10–11 Reminds Us of Jesus’ Sacrifice
We have conquered. We’ve conquered by His blood, by the blood of the lamb, and there’s coming a day when our accuser will be thrown down totally. He will be silenced, and we will stand. Not on our own merit, but on the merit of the blood of Jesus. Remember that today, …. That he has nothing to accuse you of because your sin has been covered by the blood of Jesus. That is an awesome thought.

Then that second picture that conquered by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony, like, if this is true, if we have sin covered by the blood of Christ, then we need to proclaim this to other people. We need to make this Gospel known so that other people might have their sin covered by the blood of Christ. Let’s pray today for specific people.

God, Please Give Us Courage
Oh God, we stand in this and we would pray that you would help us to stand speaking. Revelation 12:10–11 is a beautiful picture. Help us not to be silent. God, we pray that you would use us to make this good news known. God, may there be more people whose sin is covered by your blood as a result of our lives. Of our lips speaking this Gospel. Oh God, we long for the day when the devil will be thrown down and we will stand. We pray before you. As those who have conquered by the blood of the lamb, by the word of our testimony. For we loved not our lives, even unto death. May it be so, we pray in Jesus’ name, amen.” #storychurchlondon #london #uk #allnations #davidplatt

What a blast to be at Commission Festival 2024!

What a difference a year has made. Praise God for all the friendships and relationships along the way. @laurarenaewatson said it well, “When I was under the big red tent last year, I was 8 months pregnant with our son Jack anticipating his arrival and this year we are moving forward with anticipation of God giving life to Story Church London!”

It was such a joy to announce @story_church_london to our @commission.global family of churches! We are thrilled for all that God has in store!

1. Our Core Team - that God would bring together the right people for this moment as we sow seeds of prayer in the Paddington area. We even believe that some at the festival may even be some of those who may join us! :)
